The offer was made to the US envoy Steve Witkoff during a meeting in St. Petersburg earlier in April. Putin is said to have told Witkoff that Russia could back down from its claims on parts of partially occupied Ukrainian regions that are still under Ukrainian control, writes the newspaper.

There is a lot of pressure on Kyiv right now to give up things so that Trump can declare victory, says one of Financial Times’ sources, referring to the American president who has promised his voters to achieve peace between Ukraine and Russia.

Representatives from Ukraine, the USA, and European countries will meet in London on Wednesday to discuss the latest proposals in the negotiations on a ceasefire. Witkoff and the US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will not participate, but instead it will be Keith Kellogg, confirms the Foreign Ministry.

The Wall Street Journal reported on Easter Monday, citing sources, that representatives of the US government submitted a proposal to Ukraine last week that the country should give up the Crimean Peninsula, which Russia annexed in 2014.
